Classical Theatre MA: Facilities

More about our modern teaching environment

The MA programme is based in the studio of the Rose Theatre, Kingston, which is equipped as a teaching, rehearsal and performance space. Students are able to book this space for rehearsals, meetings and agreed extra-curricular activities outside of teaching hours. MA students receive a Rose card, entitling them to discounts at the Culture Café and to productions at the theatre.

The studio resources include internet-linked laptop and short-range projector with video and DVD playing facility; a system for CD, minidisk, cassette and iPod playback; and basic light and sound equipment. Students are trained on the use of the studio's lighting and sound board and relevant production/technical skills, and in rehearsal room health and safety.

MA students also make use of University facilities at the Penrhyn Road campus, including information resources, computers, the Graduate Centre, the Students' Union, shops and a café, equipment hire and a range of student support services.

The academic and production/technical staff of the drama department is based at the Reg Bailey Building, located opposite to the main campus on Penrhyn Road, and some tutorials and meetings may take place here. The rehearsal/performance spaces, costume/prop store and other resources of the Reg Bailey building are made available to MA students at certain points of the academic year.
