Creative Writing & the Creative Economy MA: Course features
What this course offers you
- This course is part of the media portfolio of Creative Industries which provide an unusual mix of creative and business skills. They recognise that the creative economy is populated by individuals with a wealth of different yet complementary skills and experience.
- Creating value in the creative economy is a dynamic process that cannot be taken by individual 'creatives' on their own. This exciting new programme offers the opportunity to explore this dynamic and build valuable networks for future careers.
- The course aims to hone your workplace skills, including:
- communication (oral, written and electronic);
- time management;
- data collation, review and synopsis;
- computing; and
- co-operation and teamwork.
- The Personal Research Project allows you to develop your own interests and gain valuable research skills. You can choose an area relevant to your own career needs and aspirations.
- Staff will be drawn from across the University, including experts from:
- the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture;
- the Faculty of Business and Law; and
- the Faculty of Art and Social Sciences.
- Input from practitioners in the creative industries and other industry experts and stakeholders adds an extra perspective to your studies. For example, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences' current writers in residence are Hanif Kureshi, Paul Bailey, Maggie Gee and Liz Jenson.
- Many members of staff in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences are published authors, often award-winners in their particular forms or genres. For example, the poet Jane Yeh has been nominated for both the Forward and Whitbread prizes.
- We offer a part-time option to help you fit your studies around other commitments.
