Creative Writing MFA: Links with business and industry

The School of Humanities at Kingston University maintains links with institutions and organisations including:

• Hampton Court, which is just down the road from the University;
• the Bush Theatre, with which it operates an internship for its students while commissioning a play annually for the Bush;
• the University's local theatre, the Rose, where we hold weekly readings in the Culture Cafe and periodic interviews by Richard Cohen with major writers such as Hilary Mantell, Sebastian Faulks and Elif Shafak;
• the Marylebone Oxfam in London for whom we sponsor regular readings;
• Troubadour Poetry Club in London, run by a former Kingston student;
• Poetry Cafe in London;
• Ace Stories, Brighton; and
• Rhythm and Muse, Teddington, London.

We also have connections with a range of organisations through our postgraduate student Impact Initiative, which provides opportunities for our Creative Writing students to take their work and research directly into the community.

You hear from guest speakers with expertise in publishing, including copy editors, producers, literary agents, reviewers and literary editors.

Visiting writers, experts in the various specialist pathways, add another perspective to your studies. Past students have benefited from lectures by:
