DBA (Doctor of Business Administration): Recognition and accreditation

How we work with professional bodies

  • The Kingston DBA is one of the first three DBA programmes internationally to receive accreditation from AMBA (Association of MBAs).
  • Kingston Business School is the first business school globally to receive triple AMBA accreditation for its DBA, MBA and pre-experience MA in Business Management.

Accreditation provides an independent and international quality kite-mark.  It assures that the Kingston DBA is delivered to a high standard and is of continuing relevance to contemporary issues in management education.

In a press statement, Jeanette Purcell, chief executive of the Association of MBAs, stated: "The value of the DBA is becoming increasingly recognised by students, employers and the management profession worldwide. The qualification offers an important opportunity for doctoral-level management study and, through the further development of research and managerial skills, contributes to the enhancement of professional practice in management."

Dr Thérèse Woodward, director of doctoral programmes at Kingston Business School, says: "Accreditation has an important role to play, both in maintaining the rigour of the DBA in terms of its equivalence to the PhD and demonstrating to employers and potential candidates the personal and professional benefits that accrue from studying for and attaining the DBA qualification".
