Design: Product+Space MA: Student achievements

Sucesses at the MA graduation show

Each year a distinguished practitioner selects the best of postgraduate work from the MA show:

  • In 2010, the show was reviewed by Michael Johnson. Michael leads johnson banks, the award-winning graphic design, identity and branding practice.
  • In 2009, Tim Hatley, internationally acclaimed and award-winning theatre and film director, made his selection from the show.

2010

Istanbul Doorset by Younghwa Lee

Michael Johnson: "Everyone in an earthquake zone knows that the safest place to be is under a door frame, but Younghwa's design takes that one stage further with an ingenious hinging device that affords more protection. Nicely thought through and even builds in storage holes in the frame for rations and torches. Genius. The MA product work on show was consistently thought provoking and intelligently presented. Probably the best of the MA shows for me."

Plugging Beirut Politics by Samiya Azar

Tim Hatley: "A sensitive and intelligent piece which explored layers of urban history. Transforming historic locations into landmarks with manhole covers was inspired. I loved the way it was a visual history – inspirational and original showing one of the layers of this fascinating city."
