Embedded Systems with Management Studies MSc: Research areas
Research in the School of Computing and Information Systems
Many of our staff are research active. This ensures they are in touch with the latest thinking and bring best practice to your studies.
Research activities are focused around research centres and groups, which include:
- Digital Imaging Research Centre – offering expertise in computer vision, medical imaging, visual surveillance, intelligence spaces and computer graphics;
- Mobile Information and Network Technologies Research Centre – which conducts leading research in bio-information systems and the application of emerging mobile and network technologies for healthcare systems;
- Industrial Control Research Group – focuses on the areas of particular expertise and long standing recognition of Kingston University, namely automotive engineering and avionics/space systems, with particular emphasis on autonomous systems; and
- Aerospace Research Group – carries out stimulating research in the full range of issues related to the design, manufacture, use and performance of air and space vehicles. Using a wide range of cutting-edge techniques, its strength lies in the coupling of both fundamental and sophisticated engineering methods.
Business research
Research in the School of Business also feeds into your management studies modules. Research groups include:
- International Business Policy – focusing on transition problems, global business strategy and inter-cultural issues;
- The Small Business Research Centre – taking a rigorous qualitative and quantitative methodological approach to investigating small firms and entrepreneurship; and
- The Centre for Research in Employment, Skills and Society (CRESS) – focusing on the theory and practice of managing work and organisations from the perspective of both employee and employer.
