"The LLM at Kingston University gives students the opportunity to specialise and develop detailed knowledge of a wide range of areas within environmental law and sustainability. The LLM is a very interesting, well structured, and engaging course. It addresses all the major contemporary issues relating to environmental law and sustainability. My knowledge of domestic, European, and international law has been greatly broadened, and I have been able to specialise in areas such as climate change, sustainable development, waste management, water governance and renewables. Alongside the academic tuition, I have also been able to train in negotiation and mediation with full role-playing and practical interaction. Kingston University has a strong research reputation across all subjects, and in particular Law. The quality of teaching is first class and the interactive seminars allow students to apply their knowledge in a stimulating and open environment.
The library is a real plus point for the University. It contains an enormous amount of research material both in printed material, (journals, law reports, and up-to-date books) and excellent access to online sources. There is an active student community, with many social events, such as a regular pub quiz and a Law Ball. In addition, the University has a thriving sustainability community who actively engage in a wide variety of conservation work. The location of the University is very convenient, easily accessible with regular trains and buses.
Over the years, I have become passionate about environmental issues and the application of law. During my time at a corporate sustainability consultancy, the director (previously an environmental lawyer), advised me to study for a legal masters in environmental law for the purposes of consulting in this area in the future. After graduating, my aim is to become a sustainability consultant, advising on environmental law and compliance.
I look forward to applying the in-depth knowledge that I have gained from this course. I highly recommend studying the LLM at Kingston University."
