Choose Kingston's History (Women's and Gender) MA
This MA will give you the opportunity to study women's and gender history over a broad time-frame from 1500 to the present day. You will have access to support from the department's active researchers in the field.
What will you study?
The focal point of the course is your dissertation, which will give you the chance for detailed exploration of a specific topic of your choice relating to women's or gender history. Our research expertise in the subject covers a wide range of periods from early modern to the modern day, and topics which touch on women's cultural, social, political and economic position in the world. There is particular expertise on the Enlightenment, the French Revolution, gender history, women and the family, literary history, and in the intersection between women's and gender history and the history of healthcare.
To prepare you for your dissertation you will follow introductory courses in historiography, documentary analysis and research skills, which you will then be able to apply to your chosen specialist area.
Many of the staff in the history department are research active. This ensures they are in touch with the latest thinking and bring best practice to your studies.
