Human Rights and Genocide Studies MA: Links with business and industry

How we work with industry partners

Studying this course means you'll have opportunities to be involved with organisations outside the university - you can find out about them here.

Our links with professional practice provide a real-world base for our courses. They also help us to ensure your studies are kept up-to-date and relevant to the workplace.

Work placement

As part of this course, you undertake a placement in a human rights organisation. You choose an area connected to your overall career ambitions in either a governmental or non-governmental organisation.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • experience, reflect upon and analyse the reality of working within a human rights organisation; and
  • apply your knowledge, experience and analytical skills to reviewing the effectiveness of an aspect of the organisation's work.

We will provide you with support in:

  • locating appropriate placement providers;
  • approaching them; and
  • securing the placement and negotiating your role.

Your course tutor will remain in touch with you throughout the placement.
