Informatics with Management Studies MSc: Research areas
Current research in this subject
Many of our staff in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing are research active. This ensures they are in touch with the latest thinking and bring best practice to your studies.
Computing research activities are focused around three main research centres:
- Digital Imaging Research Centre – offering expertise in computer vision, medical imaging, visual surveillance, ambient intelligence, machine learning and computer graphics;
- Mobile Information and Network Technologies Research Centre – which conducts leading research in bio-information systems and the application of emerging mobile and network technologies for healthcare systems; and
- Centre for Applied Research in Information Systems – which provides a focus for applied research and consultancy projects in information systems, focusing on learning technology, transport, e-business, healthcare, information systems policies, and defence applications.
Business research
Research in the School of Business also feeds into your management studies modules. Research groups include:
- International Business Policy – focusing on transition problems, global business strategy and inter-cultural issues;
- The Small Business Research Centre – taking a rigorous qualitative and quantitative methodological approach to investigating small firms and entrepreneurship; and
- The Centre for Research in Employment, Skills and Society (CRESS) – focusing on the theory and practice of managing work and organisations from the perspective of both employee and employer.
Student research
You may be able to publish any research you undertake on the Kingston University Research and Innovation Reports (KURIR) website. This site gives anyone associated with Kingston University the opportunity to publish articles, which will be permanently available to the academic community.
