Journalism MFA: After you graduate

Where this course will take you

The MFA Journalism is designed to foster a range of transferable skills needed by employers, including:

  • communication and textual analysis;
  • self-management;
  • meticulous editing and presentation;
  • the ability to reflect on one's own work and to respond to constructive criticism;
  • the ability to write for particular purposes; and
  • the ability to work constructively with others.

The MFA Journalism at Kingston University also gives you the opportunity to earn a postgraduate certificate in learning and teaching in higher education. Possession of this certificate will allow you to compete for teaching posts in higher education, your combined writing and teaching skills making them unique in your qualifications.

For those interested in further research, the course provides an excellent foundation PhD level study in creative writing and related fields.
