Law joint degree (with Arts and Social Sciences subjects) LLM/MSc/MA: Learning support

How we can support you

Both Kingston Law School and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences aim to foster a supportive study environment to help you to successfully meet the challenges of the programme and achieve your academic and career goals.

Support from both faculties comes in various forms:

  • Interactive and collaborative teaching: We like to offer teaching in small group sessions in a relaxed atmosphere in Kingston Law School, encouraging close and friendly discussion between students and tutor.
  • Dedicated support: You will be assigned a personal academic supervisor in Kingston Law School to guide you through the dissertation stage of the programme. There is also a course director and course administrator to provide a supportive and helpful environment for your study. Subject tutors are also on hand to provide guidance on specific modules and there is a student liaison office to help with any other problems or issues.
  • Academic skills: The Academic Skills Centre provides extra support for students from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences who need help with study skills. For example, you might want to improve your writing, revision or assessment skills.
  • Online support: Flexible learning is made easier by Kingston's online StudySpace learning management system. This innovative system means you can communicate easily with staff and course colleagues through bulletin boards and discussion groups.
  • Peer group support: Kingston Law School promotes a strong study-group ethos. You are encouraged to form small informal groups so that you can meet together outside the classroom for mutual support as well as information and resource sharing.
  • Student Services: The University's student support services offer advice and guidance on a wide range of subjects from finance, accommodation and healthcare to sports and fitness, as well as a Careers Service.
  • Language support: International students can access plenty of language support, both before and during your course:
