Law with English LLM: After you graduate
What our graduates say
Check out what our graduates have gone on to do and how studying at Kingston helped them achieve their goals.

Name: Masood Naseem
Course: Law with English LLM
Current position: Deputy Director Law, Federal Investigation Agency, Pakistan
"During my time at Kingston University I studied a postgraduate degree and can unquestionably say that it was one of the most valuable times of my life.
I chose to study law 17 years ago because I have a strong interest in affairs of state. I want to be involved in securing justice for those victims who otherwise wouldn't be able to represent themselves. I was attracted to the role of prosecutor in ensuring state powers are used legitimately. Subsequently, I decided that I would pursue law at postgraduate level to enable me to achieve my goal of becoming a successful state prosecutor.
The LLM course at Kingston was one of the most valuable years of my life. I had the opportunity to learn and share with people from a diverse background and level of work experience. I found the curriculum and learning of a very high quality with a good focus on practical application, such as the use of case studies based on recent issues or events. The teaching on the course is excellent and helps you to feel at ease; especially barrister Pamela Sellman whose teaching style makes you comfortable and makes the subject easy to learn. I recommend new students select at least one module under her. This really helped me to manage any difficulties I was having or where I needed a little bit more explanation with understanding something – the support was always there.
The class environment is very different to Pakistan where we would listen, take notes and that's it. At Kingston we had classes that were not very big and the emphasis was on discussion so that everyone could learn in a more interactive way. In addition to the friendly working environment that the University offers, it also provides fantastic facilities, which includes access to a 24-hour Learning Resources Centre and substantial legal resources, both in hard copy and online.
Kingston Law School has a good reputation for producing graduates who have become successful practising lawyers. Many law graduates go on to train as solicitors or barristers. However, a degree in law is equally suitable as a foundation for many other areas, including business, industry and administration.
Personally, I would recommend studying law at Kingston to anyone who has a strong interest in the subject, enjoys research and spending time analysing legal literature. Kingston University offers a challenging but supportive environment and I am sure that anyone who decides to undertake the course will find it a valuable and worthwhile experience."
