Magazine Journalism MA: Recognition and accreditation

PTC professional accreditation

This course is accredited by the lead body for best practice in training and development for the magazine industry – the Periodicals Training Council (PTC). This means that you can be confident that the degree prepares you to work in magazines. The PTC accreditation assures employers that you have come from a course which produces journalists who are able to work with a minimum of supervision. To achieve accreditation we have to show that we work closely with industry and meet the PTC's exacting standards.

Kingston journalism department has one of only seven postgraduate magazine journalism courses in the UK that have secured accreditation from the PTC.

Accreditation by the PTC opens doors for students on the course to a range of exciting events and opportunities such as the Magazine Academy Awards, and Magnet, the diversity mentoring scheme. These afford the chance to meet, network and work with some of the leading names in today's magazine industry.

The PTC sits within the trade association for the magazine industry, the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA).
