The Centre for the Historical Record Seminar Series

The Centre for the Historical Record hosts a number of events during the year at which eminent historians, professional and public researchers, archivists and curators from within and outside Kingston University discuss important issues of the day in the context of history (public and academic), with staff and students. Recent events have included speakers such as journalist Katharine Whitehorn; broadcaster and historian, Justin Champion; author, David Kynaston; and historian, Ludmilla Jordanova.

The CHR also participates in externally-funded projects which showcase its expertise in oral history, prosopography and the digitisation and dissemination of historical records. Its experts in these areas are available to provide valuable assistance to MA/PhD students in their research projects.

Conferences

Kingston University regularly hosts international conferences, such as:

Seminars and lectures

Our wide range of seminars and lectures includes:

• The Jon Lopategui Memorial Lectures – this annual lecture series has covered topics as varied as International Conflict and The Age of Spin; and
• The Vane Ivansovic Seminars and Lectures – addressing issues on the Balkans and the Near East.
