This course provides you with a thorough critical understanding of photography through self-initiated research supported by taught modules. You will also benefit from the input of an experienced group of research active staff.
It will equip you to play a positive role in the fast-moving arena of image making. You will also gain a thorough understanding of the critical and historical frameworks within which photography can be understood and conceptualised.
Based on principles that reflect the evolving nature of current and emerging photographic practice, it will encompass a broad and developing range of approaches to photography.
The course recognises that photographers increasingly explore the potential of the medium in unexpected and innovative ways, finding outlets for their work in a variety of forms and organisations.
Working alongside colleagues on other courses in fine art, we will encourage our Photography MA students to create interdisciplinary alliances. You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of environments, both individually and collaboratively.
You will have the opportunity to take part in off-site visits to galleries, site specific artworks, media venues and other cultural spaces as well as study tours.
