- The Planning and Sustainability MA integrates the theory and practice of town and country planning with sustainability topics.
- Optional modules mean you can tailor the course to your own interests.
- The dissertation or Masters project allows you to further focus on an area of particular interest and gain valuable research skills.
- You also have the option of undertaking a week-long sustainability project in a major UK or European city.
- The course is full accredited by both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- Many members of staff are research active or professional practitioners, which keeps your learning cutting-edge (read more in the Research areas section).
- You also benefit from the input of senior practitioners in the field and practical case studies are an important part of the course.
- The taught modules aim to hone your professional skills. Alongside your academic studies, you improve your skills in:
- problem solving and organisation;
- data collation, review and synopsis;
- communication (oral, written and electronic);
- time management;
- computing; and
- co-operation and teamwork.
- We offer a part-time study option to help you fit your MA around other commitments. You can also choose to:
- complete selected modules to gain a PgCert or PgDip award; or
- complete modules on an individual basis for career development reasons.
- If you have appropriate postgraduate qualifications or prior experiential learning, you can choose to seek partial exemption, meaning you have fewer modules to complete.
