Primary Teaching leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) PGCE: Links with business and industry

How we work with industry partners

We work closely with local education authorities, schools, colleges and a wide range of educational organisations. From time to time we invite doctoral researchers, graduates from the programme and guest speakers from local schools and colleges to provide up-to-the-minute pedagogic and scholarly input. This helps us to ensure your studies are grounded in practice and the constantly changing world of education.

Classroom experience

During this course, you spend 18 weeks out of 36 in the classroom at our partnership schools. You undertake placements in at least two different schools and experience working closely with two age groups.

Whilst on placement, students are expected to carry out the normal school hours and engage in school life such as attending early morning/evening meetings, which will vary depending on the school.

The partner schools are generally situated within 25km of the University. However, we also have some excellent partnership schools in Surrey, Hampshire and other Greater London boroughs if you are based in one of these areas.
