Professional Child and Family Studies PgDip/MA: Course features
What this course offers you
- This programme allows you to develop at Higher Specialist level and Advanced level in social work practice with children, young people, their families and their carers. You gain a GSCC-approved Specialist level award.
- You can choose whether to study for a PgDip or MA award. You can also take modules from the programme as free standing short courses, which can be credit accumulated towards a masters degree, a postgraduate diploma or a postgraduate certificate.
- The Faculty takes a student-centred approach to learning, which means that you can influence the modules you take and the pace at which you study. This helps to meet your individual learning needs and fit study in around professional and personal commitments.
- Our part-time courses are delivered to suit working professionals and include teaching on Saturdays, weekday evenings and occasional block weeks.
- If you have already undertaken some study at this level, we may be able to accredit courses you have already taken. Read more in the Entry requirements section.
- You will be able to develop the quality of service provided by progressing to a 'substantially enhanced' level of professional competence and, if you progress to Advanced level, to take a leading role in service delivery.
- You will learn from representatives of people who access social work services and carers. You will also have the opportunity to learn with and from other professionals.
