Don't just take our word for it – here's what students say about what it's like to study at Kingston University.
Name: Maria Brent
Course: Professional Education and Training MA
"Undertaking my Professional Education and Training MA at Kingston University was a significant, positive turning point in my career. Having been in front line social work for many years it enabled me to expand my horizons by providing me with a formal qualification in learning and development.
As a direct result of undertaking the course I was able to change my practice focus to social work education and change jobs. I now have two part-time posts, one as a professional development adviser in a local authority supporting social workers with their learning and development and I am also a lecturer in social work on an MSc social work qualifying course.
All elements of the course required me to demonstrate a theoretical and practical application of learning theories whilst also considering the varying needs of learners. This knowledge has been invaluable and is consistently drawn on to inform both of my current roles. Undertaking the course gave me the confidence to change direction. Through the supportive network of fellow students on the course and the excellent teaching team at Kingston University I have been able to develop a number of different strands to my career. This has included freelance training, teaching, working with service users and developing DVDs for social care. The course has given me the motivation to take the next step in my professional development and I am currently undertaking a professional doctorate in health and social care."
