Rehabilitation PgDip/MSc: Student support
Learning support
Study skills
We will individually assess the study skills requirements for each student. This process will begin at the interview stage by the programme leader using standard key questions, which will enable students to explore their strengths and limitations in the area of study skills.
Students that subsequently enrol on the programme will be offered a variety of support strategies from the academic team, an educational mentor, and staff from the library at St George's, University of London.
Support for students with disabilities
The programme leader, educational mentors and all other academic staff will fully support students with disabilities. In addition, we run workshops for students with special needs (eg dyslexia) to support their learning and advise on assessment and re-assessment of disability. Specialist dyslexia tutors facilitate these workshops.
The St George's, University of London counselling service also offers support to all students.
Educational mentor
You will be allocated an educational mentor who will act as a contact point throughout the programme. The choice of educational mentor will normally be a joint decision by the programme leader, module team (Rehabilitation in Context) and yourself, and may not necessarily be from the same professional group.
Your educational mentor will provide both academic guidance and a pastoral support, and will have specific responsibility for discussing academic progress and advancement of practice relevant to your work context.
