Software Engineering MSc: Attendance and timetables

When does teaching take place?

October start date

Full-time students starting in October typically take four modules before Christmas, followed by some exams early in the New Year. You then complete a further four modules and more exams by the end of May.

You submit the dissertation project at the end of September. This totals a full 12 months of study with two weeks 'vacation' at Christmas and Easter.

January start date

Full-time students starting in January often prefer to defer starting their project until after completing the majority of their modules.  If you do this, it will take more than 12 months to complete the course.

Part-time students

Part-time students tend to study more flexibly, but often take:

  • four modules in Year 1;
  • a further four modules in Year 2; and
  • the project either immediately or soon after the second group of modules.
