Sustainability for Built Environment Practice PgCert/PgDip/MSc/MA: Course features

What this course offers you

  • This course is one of new suite of a postgraduate programmes aimed at the next generation of sustainability professionals and supported by the Kingston University Sustainability Hub. The suite of courses in this cross-University initiative includes Sustainability, Environment and Change MSc; Sustainability for Built Environment Practice MSc/MA; and Environmental Law and Sustainability LLM.
  • Each of these multi-disciplinary programmes bring together experts and professionals from a range of distinctive professional viewpoints. They are designed to address current environmental, social and economic sustainability challenges. Understanding the climate change agenda, and how to respond, is central to all pathways.
  • The Sustainability for Built Environment Practice course focuses on understanding how the sustainability agenda interfaces with professional practice for built environment professionals. If you are unable to commit to the full masters programme, intermediate qualifications (PgCert and PgDip) are available.
  • You can focus on your own interests by choosing from a number of optional modules. If you opt for the MSc/MA qualification, the research project gives you the chance to further specialise. You study an area of interest in greater depth and gain valuable research skills. Our students often find this an excellent selling point when looking for a job or promotion.
  • You will have access to a number of specialist research laboratories and analytical facilities, backed up by technical support (read more in the Facilities section). In particular, all students in this new scheme have access to the C-SCAIPE reading room and resource centre, which holds an extensive and up-to-date collection of governmental, business and NGO publications on sustainability themes.
  • We offer a part-time option to help you fit your studies around other commitments. You may also take individual modules as an associate student.
