Sustainable Environmental Development with Management Studies MSc: What our students say
Student profiles
Don't just take our word for it – here's what some of our current and recent students say about what it's like to study at Kingston.

Name: Virginie Timothee
Course: Sustainable Environmental Development with Management Studies MSc
Year of graduation: 2009
"After working as an engineer in the construction industry for 10 years, I was considering a career change. I realised that I was passionate about sustainability and wanted to study the subject further. The Sustainable Environmental Development with Management Studies (SEDMS) MSc at Kingston University seemed to be the best fit for me.
"The course offers a holistic view of sustainable development, including input from industry professionals, scientific and management lectures as well as fieldwork activities. Also, it could be studied part-time, which allowed me to remain in employment.
"The most important benefit to me was the broad range of subjects that the University covers. Practically, it meant that whatever subject I was studying I could always find a lot of knowledge, references, skills and support in the teaching staff as well as the learning resources centres.
"I particularly enjoyed fieldwork. It was an opportunity for me to experience working in a field I had not worked in before. From one month to another I could do lab testing, energy efficiency auditing or ecology surveying.
"The course also developed my professional network, and introduced me to a wider range of opportunities and resources, in the form of forums, associations, seminars etc.
"At work, I am now a recognised expert in sustainable development and environmental assessment methods. I was even asked to take the stage in front of 500 colleagues and directors at our annual conference last December to explain how my new skill set will be put to good use."
