Location
The University is based in Kingston upon Thames, a busy riverside town on the borders of London and Surrey. Our students benefit from both proximity to London and being able to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
Excellent transport links mean fast routes into London and beyond.
Kingston
Kingston upon Thames is just 25 minutes by train from London but enjoys a less hectic pace of life than the city. Kingston has the lowest serious crime rate in London, according to the most recent Urban Crime Rankings report (May 2006).
The University is surrounded by beautiful countryside, which makes it the perfect place to focus on your studies. When you do want to take a break, you'll find the following on your doorstep:
- Hampton Court, Bushy Park and Richmond Park
- lots of pubs and bars
- restaurants – offering everything from Italian to Singaporean food
London
Because we are so close to the capital, students have easy access to:
- a large pool of potential employers, placement opportunities and networking links
- cultural resources such as museums and galleries – over 100 venues cover everything from Egyptology to the latest scientific breakthroughs
- specialist libraries and archives – including The British Library and the British Film Institution
- national professional bodies – including the Institution of Civil Engineering and the Association of MBAs
Our interlibrary loan systems mean you can access a wide range of libraries, including those of other London universities.
Campus life
Kingston University has a lively study environment. Alongside our learning resources, you will find a range of social and cultural opportunities on campus:
