Professor of Modern European Philosophy, Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy, Kingston University.
Overview
Peter is based within the university's Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy, which moved from its former home at Middlesex University to Kingston in 2010. The CRMEP is the leading centre for postgraduate level study and doctoral research in Continental Philosophy in the London area.
At Kingston Peter can be found lecturing not only on some of the great German philosophers but also on recent and contemporary French philosophy - he has a special interest in the work of Jean-Paul Sartre, Gilles Deleuze, Alan Badiou and Michel Foucault.
An accomplished media commentator, he is the author of a number of books on his subject, as well as having an additional interest in Haiti: "Damming the Flood: Haiti, Aristide, and the Politics of Containment" was published by Verso in 2007. Following the earthquake the book was republished in 2011 with a new afterword.
He is a member of the "Radical Philosophy" editorial collective, and a contributing editor of "Angelaki: Journal of the Theoretical Humanities."
