Overview

Dr Andrea Mammone joined Kingston University in 2009 as a lecturer in modern history. He specialises in the theory, history and ideology of European post-war right-wing extremism and fascism and in many aspects of the political, social and cultural history of modern Italy. His interests also cover both inter-war and recent French and, especially, Italian history, politics and society.

He has published articles in numerous international journals (such as Patterns of Prejudice and Studi Storici) and is an author and co-editor of a number of books on fascism and neo-fascism in Italy and in other European countries. He has recently finished a monograph on "Transnational neofascism in France and Italy since 1945".

Andrea recently led an international research group for the study of right-wing extremism in Western and Eastern Europe. As part of this project he co-edited two special editions of the Journal of Contemporary European Studies and two forthcoming book-length volumes. He has also co-edited (with social psychologist G. A. Veltri) a special edition of the Journal of Modern Italian Studies and a recent volume on the crisis and decline of contemporary Italy. The latter, entitled "Italy Today, The Sick Man of Europe", is a Routledge best-selling volume. He is also co-editing (with others) the Routledge Handbook of Contemporary Italy: History, Politics and Society.
