Overview

Dr Sylvia Collins-Mayo is a principal lecturer in sociology at Kingston University where she teaches the sociology of religion.  She has spent a number of years researching the faith and spirituality of young people and has a particular interest in how young people relate to Christianity. 

She has written various books and articles on youth religion and is co-author of Making Sense of Generation Y (CHP, 2006) and The Faith of Generation Y (CHP, 2010).  She also co-edited Religion and Youth (Ashgate, 2010) which draws together work by lead researchers in Europe, the United States and Australia to explore different dimensions of young people's involvement in various religions.

BBC 1 Television: "Does Christianity have a future?". Broadcast Sunday 17th April 2011, and was commenting on young people's faith based on "The Faith of Generation Y research.

Sylvia was interviewed on a number of local radio stations for a series of 10 minute interviews on "The Faith of Generation Y" research, in October 2010.

BBC Radio 4:  'Woman's Hour' - feature on "Women turning to Spirtuality," 18th November 2003.
