Overview
José R. Sánchez-Fung is a senior lecturer in Economics at Kingston University, where he has been based since 2002. He is primarily an expert on monetary policies in developing countries, and a former Director of Economic Research at the Central Bank of the Dominician Republic - during which time he was a voting member of the monetary policy-making open market committee.
Dr Sánchez-Fung's work has been published in refereed academic journals such as the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Economic Modelling, and the Review of Development Economics. He is also a co-author of the textbook "Monetary Economics in Developing Countries", published by Palgrave Macmillan.
In addition to teaching, research and writing, and policy-making work, Dr Sánchez-Fung's professional experience in practising economics includes acting as consultant to the United Nations University's World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER, Helsinki), the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN-ECLAC, Mexico City), the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, and the Dominican Republic's Labour Ministry.
