Overview

Costas Georgopoulos is a chartered engineer with particular expertise in earthquake design, sustainable concrete construction and engineering education. He is a fellow civil and structural engineer member of various scientific committees such as the Academic Qualifications Panel, Research Panel and Education Panel of the Institution of Structural Engineers, on the Civil Engineering Editorial Panel of ICE, a reviewer of papers for The Structural Engineer and ICE journals, an editor of CE Proceedings special issues such as Forensic Engineering & Tall Buildings, and a past chairman of the Southern Branch of the Institution of Structural Engineers. In 2009 he was awarded an honorary professorship from Brunel University.

He now heads up Kingston University's new MSc on Sustainable Concrete Structures with Construction Management which uniquely combines all sustainability credentials of concrete, including inherent and enhanced material performance, advanced concrete framed structures and substructures, specialised actions such as earthquakes and fire, and sustainable construction management practices with concrete.
