Overview

Dr Cheung is an expert in environmental hazards - particularly typhoons, hurricanes, rainstorms, thunderstorms, landslides and flooding and their disaster management - a physical geographer and a climatologist. He has carried out extensive research in tropical cyclone climatology and its relationship to El Nino Southern Oscillation and Asian monsoon systems. In the future he intends to research into global warming and hurricane activity, climate variability and its impact, and extreme termperatures and health. Since 2004 Dr Cheung has regularly reviewed articles for the journals "Area" and "Geography" as well as being a book proposal reviewer for Oxford University Press and John Wiley & Sons.
