Overview
Sue Hiley has been Director of Studies in Primary Education at Kingston University since 2008. A former primary school teacher, deputy head, advisory teacher and Ofsted inspector, she brought to her role at Kingston a wealth of first-hand experience for what makes for a good primary school teacher in the ever-changing world of education.
She is currently enrolled on the Education Doctorate at Kingston. Her research interests are defining and describing the types of knowledge that constitute "subject knowledge for teaching" within the context of science. In the current climate of debate, policy and comment on how teachers are best-prepared for their careers in education, this is a topical issue.
