Doctor of Education (EdD)

The Doctor of Education award is a part-time programme. It is aimed at busy professionals who wish to investigate current professional practice in education or training.

It provides students with:

  • an advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of research;
  • professionalism in education; and
  • a pathway in either management and policy-making or teaching and learning.

Kingston University offers the EdD jointly with Roehampton University. Between them, the two partner universities can cover topics ranging from pre-school learning to educational gerontology.

The EdD normally takes five years of part-time study to complete but, where appropriate, students may be permitted to extend or reduce this time.

The programme begins in January each year. You can find further information from the EdD course page.
