Executive and non-executive directors from all types of organisations, who wish to enhance their contribution to board effectiveness. 

Course description

This is a one-day course for executive and non-executive directors designed to help you enhance your personal contribution to board effectiveness. The course focuses on challenges of being a board director in the current environment.

  • Discussion of general priorities for businesses in the current environment, such as trust/integrity, ethics and corporate social responsibility.
  • Good corporate governance: what it means today.
  • The culture, leadership behaviour, and people risks dimensions of business and strategy.

Course tutor

Dr Jelena Petrovic

Jelena is associate professor and director of postgraduate human resource management (HRM) programmes at Kingston University. She has more than 20 years of experience in research and teaching in strategic leadership and international HRM on MBA, masters and executive programmes at universities in the UK and internationally.

Her doctoral research on board directors in international joint ventures has received the Emerald / European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) award. Jelena has also been actively engaged in professional collaborations through conducting research and consultancy. Examples include Mercer (formerly Organization Resources Counselors (ORC) Inc.– a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies), Centre for Research into the Management of Expatriation (CReME – a joint venture between ORC Inc. and Cranfield School of Management), Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the Guardian and BT.

She has also recently designed and delivered leadership training for managers for Volvo Group at their headquarters in Sweden.
