This week-long introductory course is aimed at those who would like to apply for work in theatre art departments, or a degree course, but who lack the technical skills required whilst having a solid creative portfolio, or for those wishing to update their skills.
Participants will be introduced to, and enabled to interpret, a script from words on a page into the magic of a 3D theatrical concept. The tutor will demonstrate each basic skill required, using examples and techniques from actual productions, to teach each step of the design process. Students will learn the basic skills of measuring a potential performance space, to drafting ground plans and scale drawings, model-making and costume drawings. All to a deadline. There will be a crit of the final design solutions on the last day.
