More success for Kingston University Boat Club

Kingston University's Boat Club (KUBC) was pleased to enter more crews than ever before for the BUCS Beginner's Head, which took place in Peterborough from 19 – 21 February 2010. A total of 41 Kingston students, all members of KUBC, formed seven different crews for the event.

Considering the size and abilities of the competition, KUBC performed extremely well as a club and did themselves and Kingston University proud, with some outstanding performances and results:

  • In the Men's Beginner Eights KUBC entered two crews, with the 'A' crew coming in 10th and the 'B' crew 29th out of a total of 41 entries.
  • The Women's Beginner Eights saw one Kingston Crew enter, which pulled off a great result coming 7th out 31 entries.
  • Kingston entered one crew to the Men's Coxed Fours and came in 17th out of 36 entries.

In addition to the great results listed above, the real highlight of the championship was the performance of the Women's Intermediate Eights. Kingston came away with Silver medals after a fantastic performance, missing out on gold by only 13 seconds. With 19 entries, this truly is an awesome performance.

"We are very pleased with these results as Kingston placed well at all levels against the larger rowing universities,” said Alex Bidmead, President of KUBC. "I feel from these results we are going in the right direction to do well at the coming BUCS events and hopefully pick up some more medals at the regatta."
