Dr Adam Baker

Senior Lecturer, Space Engineering & Technology

I have a PhD in Materials Science and an MEng in Materials Engineering from the University of Oxford, and a Diploma in Space System Engineering from Delft University, as well as a PGCTLHE from Kingston. I worked for many years in the UK space industry before joining Kingston University in 2011. I lead the third and fourth year modules 'Space Vehicle Design' and 'Space Mission Analysis', run the Roehampton Vale Rocket Propulsion Lab, and support the RV Rocket Propulsion Group, which develops students' practical skills related to rocket propulsion. My research interests include access to space and the economics of satellite launch, and mechanical systems for spacecraft and low cost space missions. Outside of Kingston I work with a number of space businesses including Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd and Airbus Defence & Space, and run small businesses dealing with rocket technology and space mission operations.
