Dr Chao Wang

About

I am an experienced statistician and have been doing research using applied statistics throughout my academic career, including PhD at Loughborough University, various research and statistician positions previously held at Loughborough University, University of Oxford, and Queen Mary University of London.

Throughout my career, I have acquired a range of statistical expertise particularly in the field of Bayesian analysis, discrete response models, spatial analysis, multilevel and panel data analysis, feature / variable selection, time-series data analysis, structural equation models, missing data handling, and survival analysis. I am also interested in and have gained sound knowledge in "machine learning" techniques such as artificial neural networks, and medical image analysis such as mammographic feature extraction.

I actively collaborate with other researchers to develop new research grant. I am interested in and open to any potential opportunities for research collaboration and PhD level student supervision.

I provide consultancy and training for healthcare providers. I have also engaged the public with my expertise in data analysis and interpretation, with the aim to make a positive impact on the wider society, on national and social media. Some work on pandemic was reported on national newspapers: Daily Mail (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9507449/Scientists-say-vaccines-cut-deaths-98-call-end-restrictions.html), The Telegraph (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/04/24/exclusive-scrap-social-distancing-june-give-people-control-lives/).
