Dr Selin Kudret

Senior Lecturer

About

Dr Selin Kudret is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Kingston Business School. Selin holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management from King's College London, where she worked as a doctoral researcher and visiting lecturer during her PhD.

Prior to her academic career, Selin worked in industry in various specialist and managerial roles for many years. Throughout her professional career, she worked in the banking and beverage industries. Selin has wide-ranging experience of designing and managing HR systems in multinational organisational settings.

Selin's research interests include employer branding, corporate social responsibility, workplace stress, congruence research (person-organisation fit and psychological contract breach), and advanced quantitative research methods. 

Selin collaborates with industry in various research and consultancy projects in the UK and across the globe. Her research findings and evidence-based practical solutions have been extensively used by her partnering organisations. In her doctoral research, she conducted a global scale, industry-funded project in collaboration with a major international bank across its 13 countries, numerous branches, and three operation centres. She developed a model of the perceived employer brand and investigated employee responses to the brand (e.g. organisational commitment, turnover, in-role performance). Her doctoral thesis was approved without corrections and was nominated for the King's-Elsevier Outstanding Thesis Prize by her examiners.

More recently, in a project funded by Kingston University, Selin has collaborated with a leading service organisation in the UK and examined workplace stress among their line managers and its implications for employee wellbeing, engagement, career success, in-role performance, and turnover. 

Selin communicates her research regularly in academic and professional communities. She has presented at various international conferences and gave key-note talks in numerous professional events.

Selin is an associate academic member of the CIPD and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is also an academic member of the Academy of Management (AoM), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP), and the British Academy of Management (BAM).
