About

I am Research Assistant in the Small Business Research Centre with over six years' experience of collaborating on national and international projects in the area of entrepreneurship and small business management. I have been involved in studies of entrepreneurship policy and regulation, access to finance, restructuring in SMEs, entrepreneurship education, inclusive entrepreneurship and the effects of recession on small company performance.

Research

Current and recent projects:

  • Research into the effect of interruptions in business support (York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Enterprise Partnership): The project investigates how discontinuities in the available business support affect small firm performance and growth potential, paying particular attention to scale-up businesses. It aims to provide independent, rigorous research-based evidence to underpin the strategies and funding of the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Growth Hub.
  • Guidance notes on policy strategies and objectives for the inclusive entrepreneurship online toolkit (OECD-European Commission): This work is a continuation of the inclusive entrepreneurship project commissioned by the OECD-EC. The client is developing an online toolkit for inclusive entrepreneurship policy strategies and objectives. The aim is to produce guidance notes to accompany the toolkit. This involves a review of policy documents and relevant literature.
