Mr Jim Reed

Lecturer

About

I teach on the MArch postgraduate course (ARB/RIBA part 2) alongside Takeshi Hayatsu. Our unit balances design and research with the act of building itself. Each year we collaborate to construct a live project which develops technical knowledge and fosters a team ethic, providing the students with a broad range of skills to take into practice.

I combine my teaching role with running Reed Watts Architects, co-founded in 2016 with Matt Watts. Following my training at Sheffield University I have worked at Proctor & Matthews and Haworth Tompkins, gaining particular expertise in the creative adaptation and re-use of existing buildings.

Reed Watts' current portfolio includes projects for the V&A Museum, Shoreditch Town Hall and the Open Air Theatre. We retain a strong interest in housing, with a fascinating mix of providers, and much of our research is directed here.
