Mr Jim Reed

About

Having worked for fours years on the Masters postgraduate course I now teach on the BA (Hons) Degree course, co-running Studio 2.3. Our studio projects are based in and around Kingston, often collaborating with local groups such as the Community Brain. We encourage designing through making with an emphasis on natural/ sustainable materials.

I combine my teaching role with running Reed Watts Architects, co-founded in 2016 with Matt Watts. Following my training at Sheffield University I have worked at Proctor & Matthews and Haworth Tompkins, gaining particular expertise in the creative adaptation and re-use of existing buildings.

Reed Watts' current portfolio includes projects for the National Trust, the Roundhouse and the Open Air Theatre. We retain a strong interest in affordable housing, with a fascinating mix of providers, and much of our research is directed here.

I am an External Examiner for the Architecture Degree course at at De Montfort University.
