Mrs Rebecca Lees

Associate Professor

About

I joined Kingston University in 2000 after having completed my undergraduate degree in the Business School. Since then, I have been delivering quantitative modules to undergraduate students on a variety of business-based programmes, for which I have been nominated for faculty-level teaching awards and recognised at university-level for student support.

I am currently finishing my PhD in Educational Research at Lancaster University, where I am investigating the implementation of social media policies within UK universities and implications for student and academic online activity.  My research interests lie within pedagogic research in higher education, focusing on employability and policy, and supporting interventions to support the student experience and graduate outcomes.

Wherever possible, my teaching is research-informed.  My research interests lie within pedagogy in higher education and I have published articles and presented at international conferences on the following areas of teaching and learning:

  • interventions to support student employability
  • students' conceptions of their own employability
  • the use of formative assessment to support learning in quantitative modules
  • academics' assessment literacy regarding formative assessment

In 2015, I was part of a small research group that were awarded runners-up for the Kingston University Rose Award, for a project on 'Growing a Research Community amongst Teaching Practitioners'.
