Pre-arrival information: Orientation
We realise that arriving in a new country and meeting new people can be confusing and stressful as well as exciting. Make sure you are prepared for your classes by finding out more about studying at Kingston. Each semester we also organise a number of orientation and welcome events to help you make friends and feel at home.
Study Abroad students have a four-part orientation programme:
- 24 January: Essential Welcome
- 24 January: Study Abroad enrolment
- 25 January: Study Abroad orientation
- 25 January: Group trip to Brighton
Erasmus students should attend the Essential Welcome, the Study Abroad orientation and the Erasmus student orientation.
You are also welcome to attend our welcome events for all international students.
Essential Welcome
The Essential Welcome is designed to help you make friends and provide important information about Kingston University, the town of Kingston upon Thames and studying in the UK.
It takes place on Tuesday 24 January from 10.00am and consists of:
- a welcome presentation by senior staff;
- lunch and guided tours of Kingston upon Thames and various university campuses; and
- an information fair where you will receive advice about how to open a bank account, part-time jobs and visas.
To reserve your place, register online now.
Study Abroad enrolment
The Study Abroad enrolment session takes place on Tuesday 24 January between 12.15pm and 3.00pm. Please note that it is in addition to the Essential Welcome and Orientation events and is compulsory for all Study Abroad students. We will email full details to you.

Study Abroad orientation
The Study Abroad orientation will be from 10.00am to 1.00pm and is compulsory. It will include a seminar on adjusting to learning and teaching in the UK, and is designed to help you with adapting to your new learning environment.
