How do I apply?

Before you apply

Please check with the international education office at your college or university to see how they would like you to apply:

  • directly to us;
  • through their office; or
  • through a study abroad provider such as CCIS or Eurolearn.

We prefer to receive applications that have already been submitted to and approved by the international education office at your home university.

If you do not use this route, you must obtain permission to study at Kingston from your academic adviser/departmental chair.

What to submit

There are three documents that you must complete and submit to be considered for this programme:

Please also submit the following documents:

  • official college/university transcript for your studies to date. This should show the classes you are currently enrolled in – if not, please provide this information on a separate sheet;
  • a 250–300 word personal statement explaining why you want to study abroad and what you expect to gain; and
  • a photocopy of the biographical details page of your passport.

Post your application to the European and Study Abroad Office address.

For practice-based courses within the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture

If you wish to apply for a place as a Study Abroad or International Exchange student on a practice-based course within the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture you will need to send a portfolio of your work in addition to the main application materials.

To submit your portfolio choose one of the following:

  1. Set up your own web portfolio and send us a link to your website by return email. Please do not choose a site with a short life. A good site is www.flickr.com. Email the link to esao@kingston.ac.uk.
  2. Email your portfolio as an attachment. PowerPoint is the preferred format but  jpeg files are also acceptable (but no autocad or cad files). File size must be below 10MB. Email to esao@kingston.ac.uk.
  3. Post a CD or DVD of your portfolio, PowerPoint or jpeg files. CDs and DVDs will not be returned. Post to the European and Study Abroad Office address.

Make sure your name, current university and the major you wish to apply for are clearly indicated on all correspondence headers, web links, CDs etc.

Include developmental work as well as finished projects, and anything personal or of interest to you which supports your university courses and shows us how you think about your work.

Some subject areas impose a maximum limit to the number of Study Abroad students that they will accept, so we advise applying early.
