Paris: 20–23 July 2011
This weekend tour takes you to one of the most romantic cities in the world. The Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower are just some of the sights that await you in this city of cafes, art and culture.
Itinerary for the trip
- Day 1
Morning pick up from Kingston University for a coach transfer to St Pancras Station. From St Pancras, travel by Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord. Travelling at over 300km per hour you will be there in less than 2½ hours!
At midday you will arrive in Paris, the City of Lights and Love. Following a 20-minute coffee/sandwich break we board the coach for a panoramic city tour of Paris. This sightseeing tour includes all the famous sights – the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees and the Eiffel Tower!
Rest of afternoon and evening at your leisure in Paris.
- Day 2
This morning join your guide on a walking tour to discover the Ile de la Cite, Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter. Then take a scenic boat cruise on the Seine River to see the city from a different perspective.
This afternoon you are free to explore and discover Paris. This gives you a chance to visit the Louvre (if you haven't already), ascend the Eiffel Tower, do some shopping or view Paris atop Montmartre, the famous artist quarter. (Attractions during free time are at an additional cost.)
Evening at your leisure to enjoy Paris by night. Frog's legs or snails might be on your menu!
- Day 3
This morning your guide takes you to Versailles, the magnificent chateau of the sun king Louis XIV. Once here you can discover the mirrored galleries, opulent rooms, and magnificent gardens that make this Chateau such an unmissable attraction.
This afternoon you can head back into Paris to continue your explorations and discover French Café Culture in the chic and fashionable Marais district or stroll down the Champs Elysees. Maybe Paris's other great museums are calling you? See the impressionists at the Musee d'Orsay or Picasso at his own museum!
Evening at leisure in Paris.
- Day 4
Monday gives you the final opportunity to take in Paris's top attractions or indulge in some last minute shopping.
This afternoon board a Eurostar back to London:- 14.13pm – Gare du Nord to St Pancras
- 15.29pm – Arrive London St Pancras
What is included in the price?
This trip is offered in conjunction with Proscenium Tours. Price per person is £329, if booked before 31 May. Price per person £349 if booked after 1 June. Included in the price is:
- one-way coach transfer from Kingston to St Pancras International;
- return travel to Paris by Eurostar;
- three nights' hotel accommodation;
- tour manager throughout the tour;
- entrance to Versailles;
- panoramic sightseeing tour of Paris upon arrival;
- boat trip on the Seine; and
- a carnet of metro tickets.
Lunches, dinners and entrance fees for attractions visited during free time are not included in the price. Please note that you are expected to use your travel card to get back from London St Pancras to Kingston at the end of the trip.
Remember to double check your visa requirements for France at least one month before travelling to the UK. You are responsible for ensuring that all necessary travel documents, such as passports, visas and inoculation permits/certificates, are valid.
