Itinerary for the trip
- Day 1: Travel to Edinburgh
A private coach will take you from Kingston University to King's Cross Rail Station where you will travel by rail to Edinburgh. Approximate journey time 4½ hours.
Upon arrival in Edinburgh you will be met by your guide who will take you on a historic walking tour of the Royal Mile and the old city.
Overnight and evening at your leisure in Scotland's historic capital Edinburgh. Your guide will point you in the right direction to find the best of Edinburgh's nightlife!
- Day 2: St Andrew's and Highlands
This morning depart Edinburgh for St Andrew's, home of golf and Prince William's alma mater. See the ruins of the great cathedral and castle that still dominate the coastal landscape. What a romantic backdrop for Kate and Wills!
This afternoon you will head to the Hermitage, a spectacular natural beauty spot. For Shakespeare, this was Birnam Wood in Macbeth. We will stop for wooded walk with waterfalls and salmon leap.
From here travel on to picturesque Pitlochry set under the dramatic skyline of the mountain Ben Vrackie before continuing on to Inverness, gateway to the highlands.
Overnight in Inverness.
- Day 3: Highland tour
This morning the tour will bring you to Culloden, the site of the last Highland Charge. This was the last major battle to take place on Scotland's soil and marked the end of the Highland traditions. From Culloden travel on to the Clansmen Centre at Fort Augustus, an interactive experience that brings these highland traditions to life.
This route will take you past Loch Ness, keep an eye out for the notorious monster Nessie!
Finally in the afternoon, we have a chance to admire the craggy mountain landscape of Glencoe and Rannach Moor, absolutely stunning. We finish at the Wallace Monument, commemorating William 'Braveheart' Wallace's stand against Edward II in the battle of Stirling Bridge.
Overnight and evening at leisure in Edinburgh.
- Day 4: Edinburgh Castle
Our last stop is Edinburgh Castle, where you can see the legendary Stone of Scone and learn more about Scotland's history.
