Sustainability is primed to bloom
Kingston University's commitment to Sustainability, as shown by the creation of the Sustainability Hub was among the winners at the recent South London Green Guardian Awards. In the Green Concept category the Hub was highly commended with the motorsport engineering 'Green Bike' project the category winner. Two more prize winners were acknowledged in the ‘Green Project’ category: Kingston's research on Sustainable Living and the Older Community and Transition Town Kingston (TTK) in which Hub members actively participate and take a lead. TTK went on to win the overall South London Green Guardian Awards.
Prize winners were rewarded with Cox's pippin apple trees.

The Sustainability Hub planted their tree at the front of the Main Building in Penrhyn Road (behind the University bus stop). The longer term aim is to create a 'Sustainability' picnic area around the tree to include local and sustainably sourced benches for staff and student relaxation and further planting including KU's first 'green wall'. We hope this tree and its partners at Roehampton Vale Campus, in a Kingston back garden and the third one (yet to be planted), bring forth abundant fruit.
