Sustainable Development BA/BSc(Hons)

Industrial placement

This course provides you with the opportunity to do an environmental industrial placement.  The benefits of this include:

  • enabling you to add work experience to your CV. This will give you an edge on the competition when you look for a job and help you make better informed career choices;
  • assisting your final year academic studies. Statistics indicate that on average those who have completed placements get better results in their final year;
  • developing the transferable skills that are highly prized by employers; and
  • providing you with a salary and so potentially reducing debt in the middle of your degree.

We have two placement officers who will help you get the best possible placement position. Organisations that have supported the placement programme include:

  • Surrey County Council;
  • London Zoo;
  • Field Studies Council;
  • Thames Water;
  • National Radiation Protection Board;
  • Environment Agency;
  • Mitcham Common Conservators;
  • Business Eco Logic;
  • London 21; and
  • Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew.

Read our case studies to find out about what past students thought about their placements.
