Aerospace Engineering (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) Foundation Degree (FdEng): Course features

What this course offers you

  • The Foundation Degree in Aerospace Engineering (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) is designed to enable students to gain a broad theoretical and practical understanding of engineering principles, aerospace systems and industrial practices.
  • The primary purpose of the Foundation Degree programme, conducted in an industrial setting, is to prepare students for engineering and management roles in thea erospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) environment. The thorough grounding in aircraft mechanical, electrical and avionic systems gained whilst on the programme, combined with a familiarity of the legal requirements and the standards and practices followed by MRO organisations, will enable graduates to compete effectively for employment within the aerospace industry.
  • You will be taught by professionally qualified instructors with many years of experience working in the aerospace and defence industries.
  • You will also attend talks and lectures by experts in the field of aircraft engineering to supplement your learning.
  • Practical training will be given to develop an appreciation of the hand skills required to operate in an aircraft maintenance environment and, whilst these courses are mainly theory based, Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group (Marshall ADG) recognises that work experience is a highly desirable element of your training and we will endeavour to work with you to assist in gaining work experience in the industry.
  • Teaching for the FdEng takes place at Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group in Cambridge. If you successfully complete this, you will be able to progress to a RAeS accredited BSc(Hons) top-up year in Aircraft Engineering at Kingston University.
  • This course has been designed in partnership with Marshall ADG, Cambridge (one of the UK's major aircraft organisations) to prepare you for employment in the aircraft MRO industry in a role leading to engineering management or, elsewhere in the engineering sector.
