Aerospace Engineering MEng/BEng(Hons): Course features

What this course offers you

  • Our aerospace engineering degrees combine an innovative curriculum with excellent industry links and cutting-edge facilities.You study a mix of:
    • analytical subjects – including maths, electronics and thermodynamics;
    • engineering applications;
    • an introduction to the profession of engineering;
    • specialist topics – such as aerodynamics, propulsion, electronics, control and computing; and
    • aircraft design.
  • The course has a strong practical element, giving you real-world examples to work on. We have a Lear Jet and the cockpit of a 747 in our labs, for example. Other state-of-the-art facilities include:
    • a flight simulator;
    • a wind tunnel; and
    • a ground maintenance simulator.
  • We also have a range of computer software, including AutoCAD, which we use for the design elements of the course.
  • Field trips allow you to compare the structures of different aircraft and see the real-world flight characteristics of small aircraft.
  • You have the chance to build a year working in industry into the course, which gives you a career head start.
  • Language tuition is available and you can also choose to go on an international exchange.
